HOW I STYLE FOR 17TH OF MAY CELEBRATION

You have to be Norwegian to understand the meaning of our contitution day. In 1814 we got our own constitution, and we have been celebration our minds out every year since (exept the war years 1940 - 1945). I think it`s a nice tradition, everybody is out in the streets waving their flags, singing 17th of May songs and eating all the icecream we can handle.

If you own a bunad (a national dress) this is the day to wear it. I unfortunally don`t have a bunad, so this year I went for a red vintage skirt.

Because I carry a Norwegian flag around with me all day, I always try to choose one of the colours in our flag as the main colour of my outfit.

So red, white or blue, then...

Together with my vintage skirt, I wore a plain white T-shirt, white pumps and a white bucket-bag.

I styled the outfit with gold accessories and a white hat with a red ribbon. Never a 17th of May without a hat, that`s a rule I made for myself and I never break it. And a big, warm, red shawl... it`s Norway after all, in spring we can experience four seasons in a day!

It was a great 17th of May, today it is back to work in another outfit.

HOW I STYLE A YELLOW MAXI SKIRT

I spent my Sunday at the flea market that my youngest sons school arranged. And of course I found something; 2 tops, 2 skirts, a pair of gloves and a handbag for NOK 125,- (about £13) that`s a bargain! Straight home to put the clothes in the washing machine, I am so pleased with my findings, patience do pay off, I say.

Anyhow, this is what I wear today.

A hat is always a good idea and this one could not look better than to this top. I love hats and should wear it a lot more, it looks great with almost any outfit.

HOW I STYLE THE DENIM SKIRT

I must say I was starting to get fed up with the denim trend, but then I found this skirt at sunday`s flea market. The leather detail caught my eye. Finally a denim skirt with that little extra that I appreciate in a trend item.

And of course since I am a matcher I used the colour of the detail to style the outfit. I chose a slim top to the skirt due to the leather details and the buttons that makes the skirt stand out on it`s own.

HOW I STYLE A ORANGE LONGSLEEVED T-SHIRT/HVORDAN JEG STYLER EN LANGERMET T-SKJORTE

I wore orange last week as well, it is one of my favourite colours and as spring is upon us it is a natural choice for me.

I like the short sleeves on the cardigan, it is nice to show as much of the t-shirt as possible when its colour is so beautiful.

The shoes have been with me for many years and I adore them. I think they get more beautiful the more I use them. The stole is on because the winter is not quite over in Norway yet, and I like the ladylike feeling it brings to the outfit.

A FULL SKIRT, HOODIE AND HOW I STYLE THEM/#iwillwearwhatilike link-up

Today is the second semi-final in a best of seven series for the team my husband is Assistant Coach for, and this is how I would dress for an evening at the hockey-rink.

I borrowed the jacket from my youngest son to bring a bit of edge to the Ladylike outfit, I don`t wear a lot of hoodies, but I like this jacket... He may not get it back...

Gray Stars and a Pleated Skirt

Skirt over a dress can also work, the pattern bonanza continues with #iwillwearwhatilike

I`m becoming a fan of using items in a different way than I normally do. Like a skirt together with a dress or a sweater over a dress (until recently I would rather have worn a cardigan or a jacket) I find that I can use my summer wardrobe all year.

The dress/tunic I am wearing today is a typical spring/summer item in my country, but adding a longer skirt and a scarf....Voila! Usable in winter as well, especially when Oslo woke up to more snow...not happy with that...

My inspiration this week patterns, thanks to the lovely Catherine, patterns is, as mentioned, her link up this week.

Dress/Tunic - BZR
Skirt - Zara
Clutch - Monki
Boots - Tiger of Sweden
Belt/Scarf - have no idea, very old

all Backwards - #iwillwearwhatilike, weekly link up

I have a cuople of skirts like this one, lots of volume and maybe not a first pick for a day at the office. Still I think that a turtleneck an a knitted cardigan makes it work...at work...

Wearing the cardigan backwards, inspired by Bittersweet Colours, she can of course pull off anything (with much more luck than me, I may add...) but I thought I`d give it a shot, and I kind of like it.

I like the scale of colours, it makes it easy to match with each other. And it`s really no secret that I LOVE leopard print, and since the weekly #iwillwearwhatilike link up this week is animal print...voila...! One of my "3 in..." was ponytail, and a ponytail to this 50`s vibe skirt is a good idea, accoring to me.

The skirt is actually a cut-off dress, the upper part of the dress was poorly tailored, so I just cut it off and now it is a much more usable skirt. Clever or what...? Kind of surprised my self there...

Cardigan - Vila
Bag - ASOS

On our Way to Gothenburg

These pictures were taken on January the 1st when we were on our way to Gothenburg, Sweden with our youngest son for the worlds largest icehockey-tournament for players in the U14-division, which this year means born in 2002 or younger. This is the third and last time he is participating. He is pretty good at playing icehockey and he plays for three teams on and off. Icehockey is the reason, or one of the reasons anyway, that this blog is neglected. Both of our sons play and my husband is coaching...

Anyhow, this is what I wore. the thing with icehockey-cups is that you`ll never know what kind of rink they`ll be playing in. It may be an ok rink, but it may also be a rink with a temperature below zero degrees, so one has to be prepared for anything. Dressed in wool and always an extra parkas and a plaid in the car, just in case.

So I wore pantyhose, skirt and poncho in wool. The skirt and poncho in a beautiful cream colour.

I am not the one for rules when it comes to fashion and dressing, but I would feel dressed for summer if I would wear an all white outfit in January, but when the white is creamy white I feel much more comfortable.

I like that the skirt has a wrap detail, it makes it a bit more exciting. Silver studs on the boots means that other accessories would have to be in silver as well. I rarely mix different kind of metals, I just don`t like for example silver and gold together, don`t know why, it`s just a thing I have, I have the same thing with wearing long neckleces together with belts, I can`t stand the banging agains the beltbuckle. We all have our things; this was two of mine, and believe me, I have many more....
